Sylvia Porter Sessions was born on July 31, 1818, in Andover, Maine, to David Sessions and Patty Bartlett Sessions. Sylvia was baptized with her family in 1835 and moved to Missouri in 1837. While in Missouri, Sylvia met Windsor Lyon and they were married on April 21, 1838, in a ceremony performed by Joseph Smith. In 1840, the Lyons relocated to Nauvoo and she was sealed to the Prophet in 1842 at the age of 23 and continued to live with Windsor. Sylvia relocated to Utah in 1854 and passed away at the age of 64 in 1882 in Bountiful, Utah.
