Born in 1826 in Canada, Sarah Lawrence converted to the church in 1837 and moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1840. After the death of her father, Sarah's family lived with Joseph Smith after he was appointed their guardian. Sarah and her sister Maria were both married to Joseph Smith, by his first wife Emma in 1843. After early saints migrated to Utah, Sarah traveled to Salt Lake City multiple times before her death in 1872.
