Emily Dow Partridge was born in Painesville, Ohio in 1824 to Edward and Lydia Partridge. In 1830, Emily and her family were baptized in Kirtland, Ohio by Parley P. Pratt, an early church leader who was serving his mission. Emily and Joseph were married on March 4th, 1843 by Heber C. Kimball. After Joseph's passing, Emily married Brigham Young and traveled with the Latter-day Saints west to Salt Lake City, Utah. She remained a faithful member of the church until her death in 1899.
