Delcena Johnson was born November 19, 1806, in Westfield, Vermont. At the age of twenty-three, she married Lyman Sherman in 1829. In January of 1832, both Lyman and Delcena converted to the church and moved to Kirtland, Ohio. Lyman passed away in 1839 and in 1842 Delcena married Joseph Smith for a time. Following his death, Delcena was given a choice on who to be sealed to for eternity at the Nauvoo temple, she was sealed by proxy to Lyman for all eternity. Delcena passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of forty-eight, a lifelong, faithful member of the church.
